The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in the state of California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that he helped create.

The celebrated game designer lost his life when his automobile collided and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
