The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The single features a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The context in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
